Ombré dyeing is known as dip dyeing, color bleeding, or graduated dyeing.

Alright - I am certainly getting educated from your contests. Interesting for sure.
Gradation - when you have one color - yellow for instance - then add a little of another color - red for example - you’ll have a yellowy orange probably - start over again and add more red to the yellow - you’ll have a orangey red maybe - start over again and add a LOT of red to the yellow - you’ll probably have a red with only a tint of yellow to it. That’s my take on gradation.
My mom taught us this when we were dying Easter eggs. We had the MOST Fun! Only thing is - Dad had to eat all the boiled eggs - we didn’t really like the eggs but loved the process of dying them.
Did I get it right? Hope I passed! ![]()
Dip Dyeing - where you’d take a piece of fabric and dip it into multiple colors (you may choose to accordian pleat the fabric to add variety in loosely shaped form) the colors will bleed and you’ll have a very interesting piece of unique fabric ![]()
If you tied the fabric - I guess you would be “tie-dying”.
Every college boy probably knows about color bleeding… Ha .. just kidding - most Mom’s teach their sons NOT to mix colors and whites
I’ll bet there have been a few though - who had to wear pink undershirts for a few days. Bleeding is when the dye “spreads”.
(I may not be 100% accurate on this one

The correct answer is ombre - a technique that April uses very often in her designs. Karen – you are this week’s winner! Enjoy this fabulous fabric!

WOW! Thank you so much. I just saw this fabric yesterday at JoAnn’s and loved it but didn’t have the money to buy any at the time. Will look forward to getting my package. THANK YOU!
