Project Runway, Season 9, Part 1 of the Season Finale

So, I had decided which three I thought would advance to the Season Finale and then, wham! The judges surprised me! Viktor, Joshua, Anya and Kimberly were the last four designers left on Project Runway, and they all ended up advancing to the final round.

I thought Anya would be voted off because she was a mess start to finish during this episode. She was completely unprepared when Tim Gunn made his house visit. Which, what a lucky guy, traveling to Trinidad to visit Anya! Viktor, Joshua and Kimberly had obviously put thought into their collections, good or bad, and had several different garments to show Tim. Anya did not have one garment to show though – only her fabric choices.

She’s always been able to pull it together, but this time, she didn’t really pull through. My favorite outfit was Viktor’s mini dress with the leather zipper skirt. The judges had him take the leather skirt off and I loved the dress by itself as well. Heidi loved Viktor’s jacket so much that she tried it on. I think if the judges had to choose tonight, it would have been Viktor.

I was surprised that Joshua coasted into the top two so easily. Usually, he is struggling and the judges are giving him strong advice about his designs. But tonight they clearly thought he was easily in the top two.

Then, there was Kimberly. It’s funny how the designers feel so strongly that they have created a great collection, then the judges feel the opposite about it. That was the case for Kimberly tonight. Although, her weakest point was her styling. That hurt her more than anything.

But everyone thought that Kimberly was in the top three and Anya was history. In a strange twist, the judges kept Anya as well and all four of the finalists will be showing their collections at New York Fashion Week.

What would be enough for me? Staying in that fantastic penthouse!
