Project Runway, Season 9, Episode 6
September 02, 2011
So, I loved this week’s challenge on Project Runway! The contestants worked with students from the Harlem School of the Arts. What another great idea!
Each designer was paired with a student and they collaborated on a painting together with the student leading the way. The designers were instructed to take their inspiration from the paintings. Some of them struggled with the assignment and had a tough time getting started on their sketches while some of the others jumped right in. Viktor admitted before he even met his student that he doesn’t like children. It was evident in the interaction they had and even funnier when she was quite chatty and a bit assertive. She was great! In the end, she really supported his design and he turned a corner and liked her.
I totally agreed with the judges’ decisions this week from the bottom three to the top three. I wasn’t sure they were going to like Laura’s dress, but they loved it. Anthony Ryan’s dress was perfectly inspired by the painting. Josh M. deserved to win this one. I loved it when he said “I’m a bride – not just a bridesmaid anymore!” Josh C. deserved to go home. I’m glad they are giving Olivier a second chance.
The best quote of the show? By the student working with Laura: “Failure is opportunity in disguise.”
