New trends from the Gift Market
July 28, 2009
At the Atlanta Gift Market we had a wonderful time window shopping floor to floor for inspiration and ideas that we can bring forward into the textile medium. Many of the trends that are in the market today – cupcake, dots/circles and owls and are still going strong. The dominate color trends that I saw show a big reflections of the natural and “green movement” we are seeing in all parts of our lives. Red seems to be strong still and black and white had a big presence.
In quilting, there were some traditional fabric patterns used with great contemporary color combinations that add a fresh take on usual block quilts.
Aprons, aprons everywhere!! Great fun as well as being useful. Butcher style seemed to dominate the silhouette with a bit of flair added – they had and center pockets and maybe a small curve or flounce on the bottom.
Stay tuned for more Gift Market reports!
