Deco Duckies for nurseries

Deco Duckies for nurseries

The design style we refer to as Art Deco enjoyed its heyday in the 1920s and 1930s. It ran the spectrum from kitsch to genuine sophistication, worked in materials from plastic to platinum, and was applied to everything form skyscrapers to perfume bottles – and sometimes to perfume bottles that looked like skyscrapers. Textiles were certainly no exception, even the fabrics used for children.

So if you were a young mother in the 1920s and wanted the latest look for the nursery or playroom, theses are some of the fabrics you could have chosen.

By the way, Art Deco’s graphic, stylized look enjoyed a major revival in the 1960s – and is very current once again as part of the latest trend to mix and match the print styles of different decades.
