Celebrating artist Keith Mallett
February 23, 2011
Mallett works with oil and acrylic paints and has worked with ceramics, as a printmaker and also creates aquatint etchings. He was chosen as the artist for the official limited edition print commemorating the 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s historic breakthrough into major league baseball. His art also appeared on the cover of Chicken Soup for The African American Soul, the first Chicken Soup collection to deal exclusively with the African American experience. Mallett’s art has also been recreated as collectibles by the Franklin Mint and Lenox Collections.
His bold colors of his paintings translate beautifully onto fabrics. Some of his past fabrics are featured here and have been sold at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores and Walmart. Wavy stripe is currently available at Walmart.

Glenda – So glad you love the Keith Mallet designs! What a special person you are to take on such a great project for such a great cause!
I will look into the fabric and see if I have any that I can find for you.

I became a fan of Keith Mallett’s work when I purchased Celebration in addition to the coordinating fabrics shown in the dresses of the three (3) african women. I have purchased at least six of these panels and I am in the process of making a queen size quilt to be auctioned off on May 28th by the Cancer Society of The Bahamas in memory of my friend former Assistant Commissioner of Police Basil Dean who passed away from colon cancer in February. I do need additional fabric in order to complete this quilt top. The green fabric which forms the border as shown in the Panel. I have checked several stores but had no such luck. If you have this lime green fabric in your inventory, or knows where I can get it, plase let me know as soon as possible. It is urgently need it. Once the quilt is completed, I will send yoou a photo of it. Keith Mallet’s designs are spectactular. I have purchased some of his fabrics from Walmart, but some of their stores no longer sell fabric, what a tragedy. Why did they not close the tool section. Quilters need their fabrics. Many thanks for your kind help.
