Celebrate Valentine’s Day with vintage fabric designs!

Heart designs are, of course, the symbol for romance, as in this range of conversationals from the 1950s to the 1990s, and in the Valentine’s Day card look of the voile handkerchief from 1963. The delicate “sweetheart” rose bud makes a pretty design for a 1956 flannel – compare a decade later when the 60s liked to see the motif in hot neon colours and a funky layout. A perennially favorite motif in its own right, hearts always work well beyond February 14 – particularly when associated with Pennsylvania Dutch-style designs and the traditional looks of country and Americana.
