April Johnston is Springs Creative’s latest design partner!

Springs Creative is pleased to announce a collaboration with April Johnston, a recent contestant on Season 8 of “Project Runway”! April Johnston is only 22 years old and grew up in Mooresville, North Carolina. She currently resides in Savannah, Georgia after graduating from Savannah College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. April will be designing an apparel line of fabrics, sold exclusively at Jo-Ann stores and manufactured by Springs Creative.
April qualified as one of only eight students to participate in a mentorship with American fashion designer Zac Posen during her senior year at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). She went on to show at SCAD’s annual fashion show as one of 22 students. Quickly after graduation she left for New York City to take on one of Americas most popular fashion design shows “Project Runway” and placed top 5 in her season of 17 contestants. April is a young, motivated designer who looks to nontraditional inspiration for themes and visions.
The first collection to launch at Jo-Ann under April’s name will be in Fall 2011. The collection consists of paisley, floral and hand drawn prints in rich colors of black, navy and warm red and purple tones. The excitement continues with spots of metallics in a few of the prints for some added excitement. Following Fall 2011 will be her second collection which will debut in Spring 2012, titled “Tattered Tea Party.” This collection continues with the hand drawn look and artistic interpretation carried over from fall, but introduces a softer and more muted day palette. For evening, she has chosen to punch up the color in bold and bright colors, popular and on trend today.
